Morris County Republican Chairwoman Laura Marie Ali has commended the Board of Commissioners for selecting Tayfun Selen (Chatham) as Commissioner Director and Stephen Shaw (Mountain Lakes) as Deputy Director to lead Morris County in 2025.
“Tayfun Selen and Steve Shaw will be an outstanding team, providing fiscally conservative leadership for Morris County government in 2025,” said Chairwoman Ali. “They will continue to hold the line on taxes, make strategic investments in infrastructure and education, and build on the success that has made Morris County the best-run county in New Jersey.”
Ali highlighted the unanimous support for the 2025 leadership team at the annual caucus, underscoring the critical role of Republican leadership in shaping Morris County’s success. She noted that the county boasts the number one county college and vocational school district in New Jersey, the safest communities in the state, and a track record of financial excellence. In June 2024, Morris County once again received the coveted “AAA” bond rating from both Moody’s and S&P, reaffirming its status as one of the best financially managed counties in the nation.
Commissioner Director Tayfun Selen expressed gratitude for the appointment, saying, “We will keep Morris County great by continuing our fiscally conservative policies and connecting with our residents at every opportunity!”
Deputy Commissioner Director Stephen Shaw echoed these sentiments, stating, “I look forward to working alongside Director Selen and the entire Commissioner board to ensure Morris County remains the best place to live, work, and play.”
With strong leadership at the helm, Morris County is poised to build on its legacy of excellence and deliver continued prosperity for its residents in 2025.
